In an interview, veteran Hollywood star Tom Hanks says that movie theatres will come out of this Covid-19 pandemic. Hanks specifically mentioned about movies that have no other option but to get release directly on OTT platform.
Due to the pandemic, many directors and film makers have either to postpone the production of their films or have to release their films on various online channels.
It’s simply because all cinema halls are closed due to lockdown. In such a situation, they don’t have many options but to remain optimistic about the situation.
In such a case, Hanks feels that cinema halls will come out of this situation in any case.
Regarding movies to stream on OTT platforms, he said that this change was already due for the last some time. At the same time, he also looked forward about the existence of cinema halls as well.

This is what he said, “A sea change was due, anyway. It was coming… Will movie theatres still exist? Absolutely, they will. In some ways, I think the exhibitors, once they’re up and open, are going to have the freedom of choice of what movies they’re going to play,” the actor disclosed.
Tom Hanks will soon feature inn his latest film titled “News of the World”. In the presence of such a pandemic, the actor feels that there will always be a space for movie theatres, especially for big budget films like MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe).
“Big event motion pictures are going to rule the day at the cinemas,” Hanks said, adding that his Paul Greengrass-directed drama “might be the last adult movie about people saying interesting things that’s going to play on a big screen”.
“After this, in order to guarantee that people show up again, we’re going to have the Marvel Universe and all sorts of franchises.”
The actor said that time has really changed and storytellers really need to learn the way to release their content for digital space.
“The sea change that has been brought by COVID-19 has been a slow train coming. I think there will be an awful lot of movies that will only be streamed, and I think it will be fine to see them that way because they will actually be built and made and constructed for somebody’s pretty good widescreen TV at their home, the actor clarified.
