As the holiday season slowly takes the lead, the anticipation for the upcoming Avatar: The Way of Water goes stronger.
According to a recent report published on Collider, the upcoming sequel directed by James Cameron will have a runtime of 3 hours and 10 minutes.
As the report of Avatar 2 runtime is making the headline, there has been no official announcement either from Lightstorm Entertainment or the 20th Century Studios.
However, the same is known to have been lined up with some previous statements given by the director Cameron. This is what he had said, “I don’t want anybody whining about length when they sit and binge-watch [television] for eight hours,” he said in an exclusive with Empire Magazine. “I can almost write this part of the review. ‘The agonizingly long three-hour movie…’ It’s like, give me a fucking break. I’ve watched my kids sit and do five one-hour episodes in a row. Here’s the big social paradigm shift that has to happen: it’s okay to get up and go pee.” he said.
If the report suggesting Avatar: The Way of Water having its runtime over 3 hours is true, it will become one of the lengthiest theatrical outings of Camerson.
The film then will lag behind Titanic that ran almost for 3 hours and 14 minutes.
If you remember, the first Avatar runtime was of 2 hours and 42. And now, the film has all the chance of scaling the story to a different level.
At the same time, it will also be seen if the audience will be able to sit in theatres for such a long time.
Avatar: The Way of Water Runtime Will Be of 3 Hours 10 Minutes
After looking at the reception of the first film, it seems many of the fans won’t feel bothered by staying immersed in Pandora a little longer than before.
As the original Avatar will soon join its most awaited long-awaited sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water, it will revolve mostly on Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña) and Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) along with their family.
It’s because they try to combat the retun of RDA and encounter the Metkayina clan while exploring some of the beautiful Pandora oceans.
At present, the makers have not disclosed the exact plot of the sequel, more information will be shared by the makers after the film’s marketing campaign stars spearheading toward its December release.
Avatar: The Way of Water will hit theatres on December 16. Please have a look at the official trailer of the sequel below:
