As Elon Musk has taken over Twitter, several Hollywood celebrities are looking forward to quit the social media platform.
Ken Olin (Us executive producer) having over 3 lakh followers has made his mind to quit on Friday after pledging on Friday. This is what he said, “The day @elonmusk takes ownership of Twitter, I’m out.” “No judgement. Let’s keep the faith. Let’s protect our democracy. Let’s try to be kinder. Let’s try to save the planet. Let’s try to be more generous. Let’s look to find peace in the world.”
He further added that he will soon try moving to Tribel social instead.
In the same way, Brian Koppelman tweeted, “Y’all’s, for real, come find me over on Instagram and the tok. Gonna really try to take a breather from here for a minute or a month come deal close time.” The Rounders writer previously tweeted, “I can see the logic in taking a long twitter hiatus when EM takes it over.” he said.
Hollywood Celebrities to Quit Twitter As Elon Musk Takes Over
After several celebrities started quitting Twitter, it was Bill & Ted star Alex Winter who finally quit the social media platform. Not only that he even scrubbed his tweet history and posted a meme on Musk.
Rob Reiner, who’s the noted director and activist tweeted, “For those who are fighting to preserve our Constitutional Democracy, now is not the time to leave Twitter. Now is the time to VOTE BLUE!”
There are many other celebrities who simply decided to stay for the time being. But they will surely quit Twitter right after Trump’s Twitter account is restored. This is what Musk had earlier indicated.
It was on Thursday when Musk decided to close his deal to be the boss of the popular social media platform. He even declared himself as “Chief Twit.”
Elon Musk, who also owns SpaceX and Tesla earlier vowed to make Twitter more open to wider audience where people are free to express their own views across.
After his announcement, many criticized his plans as this will make Twitter a more hostile environment that fosters hate speech.
Other celebrities who offered to quit Twitter after Elon Musk became the new CEO. One of them include the name of Mia Farrow. She said to quit Twitter if it becomes more toxic under Musk.
Farrow later deleted her tweet and instead wrote to Musk saying, “You gave us Tesla ♥️ and Space X♥️👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽. Thank you! Hope you can keep Twitter worthy of your previous achievements and of lawful people everywhere.” she posted.
Another popular actress Jameela Jamil quit Twitter on April 26. This is what the She-Hulk actress declared, “I fear this free speech bid is going to help this hell platform reach its final form of totally lawless hate, bigotry, and misogyny. Best of luck.” But she later deleted her tweet and stayed back on the social media platform.
