The Kashmir Files is a beautiful portrait narrating the story of brutal and inhuman sufferings endured by Kashmiri Pandits at the time of Kashmir insurgency in 1990.
When The Kashmir Files was released, nobody would have expected that it will do wonders at the box office. But the initial journey of the film in order to make feel its presence was not so easy. You might have heard that The Kapil Sharma Show organizers didn’t allow the film to promote on their platform. And now, Anupam Kher says that it was all possible due to BJP.
The film is based on a true story of barbaric acts on Kashmiri Pandits in the year 1990. It happened at the time of Kashmir insurgency. Apart from Anupam, the Vivek Agnihotri helmed also stars Chinmay Mandlekar, Bhasha Sumbali, Pallavi Joshi, Darshan Kumar, Mithun Chakraborty, and many others.

According to The Week The Kashmir Files director Vivek Agnihotri who recently held a press conference at the time of promoting the film said, “I wanted to make a sensitive film that has universal resonance… The whole world loves this film, the sensibilities of this film are international. I wanted to show the truth to the whole world.”
In his address to the media, Vivek Agnihotri called cinema a kind of ‘soft power’ using which his film The Kashmir Files’ can help gain a diplomatic reach. He also stated that he likes to make films like Hollywood that are made to praise the country.
The Kashmir Files was actually an effort to present its greatness in front of the entire world. This is what he added, “That is why we went everywhere in America to show the film. Our focus was not to show the film to Indians. We focused on Americans, Blacks, Whites, Hispanics and others.”
Surinder Kaul who hails from a well known Kashmiri Pandit Diaspora revealed that he had earlier approached to a number of Bollywood filmmakers to showcase the plight of Kashmiri Pandits. But in the end, only Vivek Agnihotri decided to make the film.
