Lionsgate has secured the distribution rights for the North American and U.K. regions for the Indian action film titled “Kill.”

The film is scheduled for a theatrical release in 2024. “Kill” is directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat and is produced by a collaborative effort between Karan Johar and Apoorva Mehta for Dharma Productions, as well as Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain for Sikhya Entertainment.

It stars Lakshya in his debut role, with supporting cast members including Raghav Juyal and Tanya Maniktala.

“Kill” had its world premiere at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival as part of the Midnight Madness selection.

The historic agreement represents the first instance in which an Indian production has joined forces with a Hollywood studio for the theatrical release of a mainstream Hindi language film in North America and the U.K.

In “Kill,” the story revolves around star-crossed lovers Tulika (played by Tanya Maniktala) and Amrit (portrayed by Lakshya). Their clandestine romance faces a threat when Tulika’s family whisks her away on the Rajdhani Express to New Delhi for an arranged marriage.

While, Amrit and his friend, commandos by training, are determined to shape their own fate.

What begins as a “rescue” mission soon turns into a gritty adventure, blurring the boundaries between duty and emotion.

Every twist along the journey’s tracks carries the weight of life and death, and “Kill” is expected to illustrate the lengths to which a man can go for love in his quest to rewrite his destiny.

This is what Lauren Bixby has to say, “American audiences have become more open than ever to bold filmmaking from all corners of the world. We were astounded by Kill and dazzled by the artistry of director Nikhil Nagesh Bhat.”

Bixby is a senior vice president, Acquisitions and Co-Productions. This is what he further commented, “We’re confident that Kill will find an audience ready to delight in this film’s exuberant mayhem.”

The distribution deal was facilitated by WME Independent, responsible for global sales, representing the filmmakers. Christopher Davis and Kaycee Holcomb negotiated on behalf of Lionsgate in this agreement.
