As per the latest Bollywood news, Karan Johar’s Dharma Production is currently facing acute economic crisis. There are so many reasons for this. The primary reason being the fact that most of the Bollywood ventures are falling back due to lack in quality.
In other words, people are simply rejecting most of his films. In the recent past, Dharma Productions came with a few web series but all of them proved futile. Slowly and steadily, the mega production house started going into deep financial trouble.
Most recently, Johar failed to complete a deal with Lyca Productions to sell the company’s 30% stake. Due to this, the overall situation has become grim. Let’s now focus about the reasons why the deal was called off.
Lyca Productions is basically a US based film production company that came in the limelight after it produced a plethora of films including 2.0 starring Akshay Kumar and Rajinikanth.
In December 2020, Karan Johar had signed a 5 film deal with Lyca Productions. Now, as per the latest reports pouring in, the US basd company has now called off its deal leaving Dharma Productions in a state of shock.
The decision of Lyca Productions has now caused Karan Johar to sell his company. As per a report published on Bollywood Hungama, “Lyca Productions has broken the deal with Dharma Productions. However, the reason behind the end of this deal is not yet revealed. Reports have claimed that Karan Johar is currently trying to raise funding from the market but no one is willing to invest with Karan Johar after witnessing the second wave of Corona virus.”
Earlier, Dharma Productions was doing well because of the money being invested by Fox Star. But now, it has also consolidated its business from India. Other reasons being the fact that most recent films of Karan Johar didn’t produce much positive impact on the audience’s minds.
For example, one of the KJo’s films titled ‘Ajeeb Dastaan’ almost failed to receive much response from the audience on Netflix.
