Versatile actor Vijay Sethupathi, in a recent interview with BehindWoods while promoting his upcoming film Maharaja, discussed his decision to reject a role opposite Krithi Shetty in Ponram’s 2022 movie DSP.

The decision of Vijay Sethupathi to decline the role opposite Krithi Shetty in DSP was influenced by their previous collaboration in Buchi Babu Sana’s 2021 Telugu film Uppena, where Sethupathi portrayed Shetty’s father.

This is what he said,  “I declined the offer of being paired opposite Krithi in DSP. I played her father in Uppena, which the makers didn’t know about. There’s a scene in Uppena that Krithi was nervous about when we were shooting. I even asked her to think of me as her real father while we were shooting that. She is a little older than my son. I told them I couldn’t do it.”

Vijay Sethupathi’s refusal to take on the role underscores his respect for the already established boundaries of their previous on-screen relationship. This isn’t the first time Vijay has mentioned declining offers to be paired opposite Krithi. In 2023, he noted.

Vijay Sethupathi’s upcoming projects include Nithilan Swaminathan’s “Maharaja,” set to release on June 14, where he will share the screen with Anurag Kashyap in a significant role. The actor will then star in Vetrimaaran’s “Viduthalai 2” and a silent film titled “Gandhi Talks.”

While Krithi Shetty will star in Sriram Adittya’s Telugu film “Manamey” alongside Sharwanand, slated for release on June 7.
