One of the highlights of RRR was that its song Naatu Naatu became a hit and awarded the Best Original Song at the Golden Globes 2023.
As the film has now been nominated for the Oscars, things are really going big in its favor. However, in terms of box office numbers, even the Japan release failed to break the record made by Yash starrer KGF Chapter 2.
Another fact is that SS Rajamouli is himself a brand to pull the masses on its own. We have all seen him pulling the mass audience at the time of Baahulabi franchise. And we all know the kind of milestones it has created at the box office.
And now, a similar trend can be seen coming out of the way by RRR but the film simply lagged behind when compared with KGF 2.
RRR Box Office (Worldwide): The SS Rajamouli’s Film Competes KGF Chapter 2
Now, if you analyze the film in terms of the worldwide box office, KGF Chapter 2 has managed to surpass a total of 1230 crore gross.
With these figures in mind, the action thriller managed to become 3rd highest Indian Grosser in terms of global collections.
The top two films in the list includes Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (1800 crores) and Dangal (1899 crores).
It all happened about 3 months ago when RRR was released in Japan with some impressive numbers but still couldn’t well compete with KGF 2.
At the Japan box office so far, RRR has managed to collect a whopping Rs 45 crore. And the worldwide collection of RRR now stands at 1189 crores gross.
As the film continues to run in theatres overseas, the lifetime numbers for the film stands up to 1200-1210 crores.
In the end, it can be said that SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus almost missed a chance to beat the top 3 slots of Indian grossers at the worldwide box office.
