Parineeti Chopra’s Colleagues Cautioned Her That Portraying Amar Singh Chamkila Could Jeopardize Her Career; See Insights

In a discussion with Bollywood Hungama, Parineeti Chopra stated that she received warnings from her fellow actors about endangering her career by taking on the role.

This is what she further said, “I remember confiding in some of my co-stars about my decision to take on this film and undergo weight gain for it. Many of them cautioned me, saying, ‘Are you serious? Have you lost your mind? You’ll ruin your career. Don’t go through with this film.’ But my instincts told me, ‘No, I’m going to go ahead with it,'” Parineeti recalled.

She further elaborated, “With the extensive 2 year shoot for Chamkila, I had to forego many professional opportunities. My appearance wasn’t at its peak, leading to rumors suggesting pregnancy, Botox, and other unfounded speculations. I was notably absent from red carpet events during this period.”

The actress also noted that she entered into marriage while still carrying the extra weight she had gained for Amar Singh Chamkila. “I tied the knot with the weight I had put on, so every time I glance at my wedding photos, they will serve as a constant reminder of Chamkila,” she remarked.

The film basically narrates the untold story of Punjab’s singer, who became the highest-selling artist of his time in the 1980s. In his musical career, he gained huge popularity through the sheer power of his music. But his rise to fame finally led to his assassination at the age of 27.

The lead roles in the film are played by Parineeti Chopra and Diljit Dosanjh. The film titled “Amar Singh Chamkila” serves as Netflix’s homage to the renowned Punjabi singer.
