Uvalde citizen Matthew McConaughey looks highly concerned about the recent elementary school shooting that killed 19 students along with an adult.

 

 

Matthew McConaughey shared on social media after the recent tragedy that happened in his hometown Uvalde, Texas.

McConaughey is a 52 year old actor who was talking about the massacre at Robb Elementary School where a gunman suddenly arrived and killed 18 students, a teacher and another adult.

The above tragedy is something nobody can forget. And this is the time for all of us to act against such elements who have no fear killing small children.

This is what the actor shared, “As you all are aware there was another mass shooting today, this time in my home town of Uvalde, Texas,” McConaughey wrote. “Once again, we have tragically proven that we are failing to be responsible for the rights our freedoms grant us.” he said.

He further went on to channel the outrage of a nation in mourning the recent episode.

“The true call to action now is for every American to take a longer and deeper look in the mirror, and ask ourselves, ‘What is it that we truly value? How do we repair the problem? What small sacrifices can we individually take today, to preserve a healthier and safer nation, state, and neighborhood tomorrow?’ he wrote. “We cannot exhale once again, make excuses, and accept these tragic realities as the status quo.”

“As Americans, Texans, mothers and fathers, it’s time we re-evaluate, and renegotiate our wants from our needs,” he continued. “We have to rearrange our values and find a common ground above this devastating American reality that has tragically become our children’s issue.”

 

Matthew McConaughey Seeks Change After Texas Shooting: ‘We Must Do Better’

Matthew McConaughey is a native of a small city in Texas where up to 16,000 people live. The city is almost 85 miles west of San Antonio. The actor lived there for as many as 11 years since his birth until he finally moved to Longview with his family.

As you see, the Texas shooting that happened on Tuesday is one of the deadliest happened in the recent past. The shooting has devastated all Americans. At this time everyone has an urge to take measures to stop this massacre at any cost.

McConaughey, who was in the race of winning the post of Texas governer has spoken about making somewhat more strict laws against such acts. He stated further that its the duty of every politician to come together for a change by putting their differences aside.

“This is an epidemic we can control, and whichever side of the aisle we may stand on, we all know we can do better,” he wrote. “We must do better. Action must be taken so that no parent has to experience what the parents in Uvalde and the others before them have endured.”

The Oscar winner ended his by expressing sympathy to the victims’ families. “To those who dropped their loved ones off to school not knowing that today was goodbye, no words can comprehend or heal your loss,” he said, adding, “but if prayers can provide comfort, we will keep them coming.”

From the beginning when Texas shooting took place, McConaughey was the first among others who spoke about it. Apart from the actor, president Joe Biden also circulated impassioned message where he simply ordered flags in the country to be moved to half mast.

This is what the president Joe Biden stated, “As a nation, we have to ask, when in God’s name are we going to stand up to gun lobbying? When in God’s name will we do what we all know in our gut that needs to be done?” he said.

In his message, he recalled some of the deadliest massacres that took place in the country from time to time. It included the massacres at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and Sandy Hook Elementary School.

The president continued with his message, “I am sick and tired of it. We have to act. And don’t tell me we can’t have an impact on this carnage. I spent my career as a senator and vice president working to pass common sense gun laws,” he said

This is what he further said, “The idea that an 18-year-old kid can walk into a gun store and buy two assault weapons is just wrong. What in God’s name do you need an assault weapon for except to kill someone? he said.
