Margaret Qualley scored a spot in Happy Gilmore 2 after her husband, Jack Antonoff, exaggerated her golfing skills. “I’m just in the background, but it’s a dream come true!” she quipped. Despite having no golfing experience, she managed to land a minor role in the movie.

During her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, she excitedly shared that she has a “tiny part” in the sequel to the beloved 1996 comedy Happy Gilmore.
“I’m just a background extra, but it’s enough to make me happy!” Qualley said, calling the opportunity the “greatest thing that’s ever happened” since she’s a massive fan of the first Happy Gilmore film.
When news of the sequel broke, Qualley immediately contacted her agents, insisting she’d take any part, no matter how minor. “I told them, ‘Whatever it takes. I don’t care how small the role is. I need to be involved,’” she remembered.
Shortly after, Sandler texted her husband Jack Antonoff, asking if she could actually golf. Antonoff’s response? “Yeah, she’s pretty good!” Sandler then mentioned he might reach out, saying, “Could bother her for a few days… she’d be fantastic.

When Jimmy Fallon read the text exchange between Sandler and Antonoff, Qualley confessed she couldn’t actually golf! She admitted that her husband had “lied for the sake of the family.”
Qualley went on to reveal that she had never played golf in her life and was, in fact, “terrible” at it.
Margaret Qualley later mentioned she’s taking golf lessons and is still getting the swing of it. ‘Happy Gilmore 2‘ will feature a star-studded cast, including Travis Kelce, Bad Bunny, and Adam Sandler.
