It seems that Bollywood star Akshay Kumar has become the point of conflict for many protestors in Chandigarh. All these protests were held against his upcoming film titled Prithviraj.
As per an update, the actor is keen to play the character of Prithviraj Chauhan in the Yash Raj’s period drama.
Interestingly, the film also marks the debut of Manushi Chhillar who will be seen playing the role of Sanyogita.
It’s Akhil Bharatiya Kshatriya Mahasabha, an organization in Chandigarh which is protesting against the film and want the makers to change the title.
They are demanding that they can’t present the name of the film as Prithviraj. Instead, they need to include the entire title of the king.
As per the protestors, the full title of the film should be either ‘Emperor Prithviraj Chauhan’ or ‘Hindu Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan’.
In response of their agitation, they say that Prithviraj was the last emperor of Hindu community. This is why they demand to give him due respect and include the emperor’s full name into the title.
They also demand the makers should first show the film to them before its final release. Another thing they want is that there should be no foul play with the facts and the history of the great emperor should not be tampered with.
They also warned the makers that if they didn’t meet their demand, then this film might face all the wrath of Kshatriya Samaj just like it happened in the past with some other films like Jodhaa Akbar and Padmaavat.
At the time of their demonstration, they burnt the effigy of Akshay Kumar along with the producer and director of the film in question.
Prithviraj was earlier postponed due to the COVID-19 crisis and will now be released on November 5, 2021.
