Taapsee Pannu Reveals the Motivation Behind Signing “Saand Ki Aankh”, Says, “I Don’t Have Any Godfather In My Career”

Discussing the rationale behind her quest for a script featuring two leading ladies, Taapsee Pannu expressed, “I acknowledge that the film was not targeted for my age group, but I yearned for a role where two women are working together, both as leading ladies rather than one in a primary role and the other in a supporting role.”

“I am solely focused on pursuing acting, and I don’t feel threatened by another actor or actress occupying my screen space. I am a secure actor in that regard. That’s why I actively sought a script where two of us could share the responsibility of a film together. I went out of my way to search for such a script.”

She further added,” At that time, I learned that Tushar had a script involving two leading women, but I wasn’t aware they were meant to be senior citizen characters. Even when I found out later, I didn’t hesitate to approach him for the role. He did inform me that the two women were expected to be quite old.”

She further added, “Every script I’ve received so far, I’ve had to actively pursue. I had to reach out to people, asking if they had anything and to let me know. If I’m interested in a script, I have to put in the effort because I don’t have a godfather in this industry to manage these aspects for me.”
