During last year’s MAMI Mumbai Film Festival, a special program titled ‘MAMI Select: Filmed on iPhone’ was launched. The above initiative provided a platform for talented emerging filmmakers from the MAMI Alumni to explore new possibilities in cinema by creating high-quality short films. These films were shot using an iPhone 15 Pro Max and edited on a MacBook Pro.
Now, after a gap of 6 months, 5 short films received an exclusive theatrical premiere, attended by notable figures from the industry like Vishal Bhardwaj, Vikramaditya Motwane, Rohan Sippy, Shakun Batra, Radhika Apte, Shabana Azmi, Aditi Rao Hydari accompanied by her fiancé Siddharth, Gul Panag, Jim Sarbh, Kabir Khan, Kiran Rao, and Mouni Roy, among others.
At present, all the mentioned short films are available for streaming on the MAMI Mumbai Film Festival YouTube channel.

The 5 renowned filmmakers about whom we mentioned above happen to be the participants of MAMI Select: Filmed on iPhone, epitomize the shifting dynamics of Indian cinema and its upcoming talents. They challenged established norms in an approach for storytelling and cinematic creation.
Vishal Bhardwaj, also known for his short film ‘Fursat‘, captured on an iPhone in 2023. Vikramaditya Motwane; and Rohan Sippy, recognized for his stylized cinematic approach, provided mentorship to all 5 filmmakers: Archana tul Phadke, Faraz Ali, Prateek Vats, Saumyananda Sahi, and Saurav Rai.
The above filmmakers motivated under the extreme guidence so as to explore the creative limits of filmmaking and construct compelling narratives within a fresh cinematic framework.
