Shontaan (Bengali) Box Office Collection Day 9: After almost five years since the popular Bengali film Parineeta, director Raj Chakrabarty joined forces again with Ritwick Chakraborty and Subhashree Ganguly for the emotional family drama titled Shontaan.
With considerable anticipation, the movie debuted on December 20th and garnered positive feedback from both fans and critics, effectively connecting with the audience emotionally.
The emotional drama basically depicts the struggles of an elderly couple rejected by their son. The story further progresses as the father turns to the court in search of justice.

Shontaan, starring Sohini Sengupta, Kharaj Mukherjee, Subhashree Ganguly, Ritwick Chakraborty, Anashua Majumdar, and Mithun Chakraborty, had an opening of Rs 11 lakhs in Bengal. The Bengali emotional drama went on to earn Rs 1.43 crore in its first week.
As per Sacnilk, the Subhashree-Mithun starrer witnessed a small increase on day 9, collecting Rs 20 lakhs. This pushed its total nett collection to Rs 1.76 crore.
Did Shontaan Achieve Its Budget Goals on the 2nd Saturday?
Reports say that a total of Rs 2 crore spent by makers in the form of a budget. While the nett collection hasn’t yet met expectations, the gross earnings have covered the production costs.
Subhashree’s Shontaan competed with Dev’s Khadaan and Tota Roy Chowdhury’s Chaalchitro at the box office. However, both Shontaan and Chaalchitro are being outshined by Khadaan.
It’s reported that Shontaan was made on a budget of Rs 2 crore. While the nett revenue hasn’t fully met the budget expectations, the gross earnings have managed to recover the costs.
For those who aren’t aware, Subhashree’s Shontaan competed with Dev’s Khadaan and Tota Roy Chowdhury’s Chaalchitro at the box office. However, both Shontaan and Chaalchitro are being outshined by Khadaan.
