In Short:
- Overwatch 2 players have discovered a new Hero Perk that may need some adjustments, as Bastion has become nearly indestructible
- Bastion’s Self-Repair perk lets the hero heal without any limits, completely unrestricted by a resource meter
- As a result, heroes with lower damage output, such as D.Va and Tracer, struggle to eliminate Bastion
The addition of the perk system in Overwatch 2 has injected new energy into the game, offering a much-needed boost after Marvel Rivals’success.
Blizzard has recognized that, at the outset, some Hero Perks may be overpowered, especially given that all 41 heroes now have their own perks to work with.
Overwatch 2 players may have already identified one Hero Perk that needs urgent attention. With the new perks system, Bastion has regained his Self-Repair ability from the original Overwatch, allowing him to stow his weapon and heal himself instantly.
Overwatch 2 Fans Facing Difficulty Overcoming Bastion’s Self-Repair

The downside for other players is that Bastion’s Self-Repair perk in Overwatch 2 seems to have made him nearly invincible.
In the original game, Bastion’s Self-Repair was balanced by a resource meter, which stopped him from healing once it was depleted. However, Overwatch 2 removed that meter, allowing Bastion to heal without any restrictions.
Well, this unlimited healing is causing chaos in matches, with Bastion seeming almost unstoppable when facing off against a few limited characters.
Shroomiiee, a Twitter user tried to showcase the above through a video (embedded above), where Bastion survives the heat of battle by continuously self-healing while retreating.
A different video from Reddit user Holi– highlights the problem further. In it, Bastion remains stationary, using Self-Repair repeatedly while D.Va shoots at him with no effect.
Against characters lacking high burst damage—such as Tracer, Moira, D.Va, and Winston—Bastion becomes nearly invincible.
A perk that renders half of the current roster ineffective against Bastion isn’t ideal for Overwatch 2’s balance. It’s likely that Bastion’s Self-Repair will either see a reduction in healing or have a resource meter reintroduced soon. As a D.Va main, I certainly hope that’s the case.
