In Short:
- In Marvel Rivals’, The Thing and Human Torch are facing challenges in the current meta
- The Thing holds a 49.11% win rate, while Human Torch sits at 46.09%
- Their high pick rates are likely a factor in their lower win percentages
With Marvel’s massive character pool, Marvel Rivals could introduce new additions for the next 875 years, extending into the year 2900. That said, each new release remains exciting, as seen with the arrival of Human Torch and The Thing earlier this month
Despite the excitement surrounding their arrival, both characters have had little influence on the current meta, with Human Torch struggling the most.
Human Torch & The Thing Are Having a Tough Time In Marvel Rivals

The Marvel Rivals tracking site, Rivals Meta, indicates that both The Thing and Human Torch are struggling in the game.
Right now, The Thing sits in the lower half of the rankings with a 49.11% win rate. While this puts him slightly ahead of Invisible Woman, another Season One addition, it’s still not an ideal position.
Johnny Storm is struggling even more, with Human Torch landing in the bottom five heroes by win rate in Marvel Rivals. His 46.09% win rate places him just ahead of Hawkeye, Moon Knight, and the perpetually lowest-ranked Jeff the Land Shark and Black Widow.
Although their strength as characters plays a role in their low success rates, the primary reason is likely their high pick rate, with many players experimenting with them.
The Thing ranks second in pick rate among all heroes, just behind Invisible Woman, while Human Torch holds the fourth spot. With a large number of players testing them out, many are likely facing difficulties, leading to their low win percentages.
Now that The Fantastic Four have arrived, speculation is growing about the next batch of heroes. Leaks suggest Gambit and several X-Men might be next, or possibly Blade and Ultron. Whoever joins the roster, fans are hoping they’ll outperform the latest additions.
