Before its February 28 launch, Monster Hunter Wilds earned widespread praise, achieving a “Mighty” rating on OpenCritic with an 89 average score and a 95% critic recommendation rate.
The anticipation from millions of Monster Hunter fans worldwide helped the game surpass eight million copies sold soon after release.
The above impressive sales achievement surpassed the previous record held by Monster Hunter World, while Monster Hunter Wilds also set new franchise records due to its strong Twitch viewership.
New data from Gamesight analysts indicates that Monster Hunter Wilds greatly surpassed Monster Hunter World’s peak concurrent Twitch viewership at launch.
The game hit roughly 405,000 peak viewers, more than doubling the 170,000 viewers Monster Hunter World recorded in early 2018.
Monster Hunter Wilds garnered over 19 million total watch hours on Twitch in the days following its February 28 release.
Despite some controversy, the game undeniably attracted strong engagement from both longtime fans and newcomers on the platform.

Monster Hunter Wilds has consistently held a spot among the top five most-watched games on Twitch since its debut.
Gamesight also analyzed which titles streamers left to play Monster Hunter Wilds, with many coming from popular PvP games such as Marvel Rivals and Apex Legends.
Approximately 6% of Marvel Rivals streamers transitioned to Monster Hunter Wilds, while 5.5% came from Apex Legends and 5% from Valorant.
The above figures shed light on Monster Hunter Wilds’ phenomenal debut and ongoing player interest. The game has performed exceptionally well on Steam, surpassing 1.3 million players in very less time on the prestigious Valve’s platform.
Despite some technical issues leading to mixed reviews, Monster Hunter Wilds remains a popular choice among PC players.
