Monster Hunter Wilds has crossed eight million sales in just three days, marking it as the fastest Capcom game to hit this milestone
Capcom reports that Monster Hunter Wilds is off to an exceptional start, outperforming the five million units Monster Hunter World shipped in 2018 and the four million Monster Hunter Rise sold in 2021.
Well, these numbers aren’t shocking, as Monster Hunter Wilds quickly surpassed one million concurrent players on Steam during its launch weekend, overtaking Cyberpunk 2077 to become the 7th most-played game of all time. It also contributed to Steam reaching a record-breaking 40 million concurrent users.
Our review of Monster Hunter Wilds stated that it “streamlines the series by addressing its rougher aspects, resulting in exciting combat but falling short in terms of difficulty.
Capcom announced that the Monster Hunter franchise, which debuted on the PlayStation 2 in 2004, has surpassed 108 million units in sales as of December 31, 2024.
Monster Hunter Wilds Shatters Capcom’s Sales Record

Although Monster Hunter Wilds has received strong reviews and impressive sales, its PC port still faces technical challenges.
This is evident in its “Mixed” rating on Steam, where only 58% of the 64.7K user reviews are positive. Players have reported multiple performance and stability issues affecting their gameplay experience.
Capcom developers have been swiftly addressing reported issues, with one of the latest updates fixing a major bug that prevented players from progressing beyond a specific chapter in Monster Hunter Wilds’ campaign.
