Josh O’Connor has been confirmed to play the lead in Kelly Reichardt’s upcoming film The Mastermind. It’s a plot set during the Vietnam War that centers around an art heist. With MUBI backing the production, filming is expected to start later this year. Renowned for her minimalist approach and focus on marginalized individuals, Reichardt joins forces with producers Vincent Savino, Anish Savjani, and Neil Kopp. The film will be released in multiple regions, including North America and India.

 

 

As per the Latest Hollywood News, Josh O’Connor, known for his role in Challengers, is taking on the lead in The Mastermind, the next film from acclaimed director Kelly Reichardt.

As reported by Deadline, the MUBI-backed project centers on a bold art heist during the Vietnam War era.

Reichardt, famous for her minimalist, character-centric approach, will helm the film as both writer and director, with production anticipated to begin this year.

Kelly Reichardt’s films, including Old Joy, Meek’s Cutoff, Certain Women, First Cow, and Showing Up, frequently delve into the lives of marginalized individuals within the American landscape, particularly in the Pacific Northwest.

The Mastermind will be produced by Vincent Savino, Anish Savjani, and Neil Kopp from filmscience. MUBI will handle distribution in select regions, maintaining rights different countries.

O’Connor was most recently seen in filmmaker Luca Guadagnino’s “Challengers” opposite Zendaya and Mike Faist. His upcoming movies include Kate Winslet-starrer “Lee” and the third “Knives Out” movie, titled “Wake Up Dead Man”.
