After releasing on August 13, 2021 at the domestic box office with a budget of $100–125 million, Free Guy has hit $100 million in overseas. Thanks to the film’s China release.
Free Guy Box Office: This Ryan Reynolds starrer science action thriller has become one of a kind film that has garnered huge appreciation all around.
Although, the film performed normally at the domestic (US and Canada box office), it managed to smash all records after it released in China.
The film was originally released on August 13, 2021 in the US. Soon after its release, it met with some rave reviews from the critics. Due to COVID-19, it also had to suffer in many ways.
But the Ryan Reynolds starrer witnessed a huge jump after it released in China on August 27, 2021. In its very first weakened itself, it managed to garner a thrashing $23.90 million (as per the data collected from Box Office Mojo).
This is one of the reasons why Free Guy topped the charts at the China box office for the last weekend.
Another reason which it managed to grab huge success is due to the positive word of mouth.
Most films are greatly being impacted due to the closure of 30% cinema halls in the US. This adversely impacts the overall collection of films.
At the domestic box office, Free Guy has made up to $78.91 million so far. The overseas collection of the film is somewhere around $179.21 million.
