The entire world has been witnessing the coronavirus crisis for the last 6 months. It has impacted almost every industry. Talking about films, hundreds of projects either had to be postponed or cancelled due to this.

This is probably what seems to be the major reason why top producers and media houses have decided to postpone their film’s release.

The impact of the pandemic is also haunting the fans of Vin Diesel whose upcoming action thriller flick F9 release date has been pushed back. It all happened when Universal announced (Friday) that they have pushed back the debut of the upcoming Fast and Furious sequel.

The new release date has been confirmed and the film will now hit silver screens on May 28, 2021.

The above decision by Universal came right after the makers of ‘No Time to Die’ delayed the release date of the film for 5 months. Earlier, the film was scheduled to release on November 2. But now, it will be released on April 2, 2021.

The decision to postpone crucial films was taken in the month of March when coronavirus cases started to pile up. And this is when Universal took the bold decision to push back the release date of F9 by an entire year.

The above decision was made by looking at the kind of revenue these top films make. In the recent past, Variety reported that ‘Fast and Furious’ is a crucial franchise.

It’s also because of the reason that spinoffs and sequels of the film are always the favorites among fans. Also, they have collected billions of dollars at the global box office.

F9 is directed by Justin Lin and the movie mainly picks up after the events of The Fate of the Furious (2017).

F9 is produced by Neal H. Moritz, Vin Diesel, Jeff Kirschenbaum, Joe Roth Justin Lin, Clayton Townsend and Samantha Vincent.

‘The Fate of the Furious’ became the highly entertaining film and managed to become the huge box office winner. In fact, the film became the 2nd installment in the series to cross a billion dollar mark at the global box office.
