Fans might have to face a tough time after Hollywood studio Lionsgate confirmed that ‘Dirty Dancing’ sequel will now be released in the US theatres on February 9, 2024.
The reports say that Jennifer Grey, who’s the original movie star for the film is expected to return for the sequel to this cult classic film. Dirty Dancing sequel will be directed by Jonathan Levine.
The film is taken from a screenplay by by Jonathan Levine along with many others including Tobias Iaconis, Mikki Daughtry, and Elizabeth Chomko.
The sequel is expected to feature Grey’s Frances “Baby” Houseman where he’s shown to go back to Kellerman’s Resort for a story of summer, dancing and romance. Check Dirty Dancing (1987) trailer below:
The original ‘Dirty Dancing’ was first released in the year 1987 where Grey had starred opposite Patrick Swayze who had played the most popular role of a dance instructor Johnny Castle.
The film had become so popular in the US that it simply turned out to be a huge cultural phenomenon.
It looks quite astonishing to know the fact that it had managed to gross USD 218 million at the global box office and even won an Oscar in the category of best original song “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life”. It was sung by none other than Jennifer Warnes and Bill Medley.
