After facing backlash over a church scene in Jaat featuring Randeep Hooda, director Gopichand Malineni addressed the controversy.

It simply pointed out that there was no intention to disrespect religious feelings. His statement came after the filmmakers issued an official announcement confirming the removal of that particular scene.

While interacting with Mid-Day, Gopichand Malineni shared that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had not raised any concerns about the controversial scene during the trailer review. However, the board later directed the team to blur the background in the final version of the film.

This is what Malineni explained, “The censor board didn’t raise any concerns during the trailer review, but later instructed us to blur the background in the final film. This was done prior to any public objections.”

He also stressed the importance of considering the audience’s sensitivity, saying, “To make a film a hit, it needs to be accessible to as many people as possible. Filmmakers never aim to offend anyone or any community; our goal is purely to entertain.”

After it all happened, the entire production team decided to issue an unconditional apology The film’s production team previously issued an official apology, confirming the removal of the controversial scene.

The statement said, “A particular scene in the film has led to backlash. We have promptly removed it from the film. Our intention was never to disrespect any religious sentiments.

We sincerely regret the incident and have taken immediate action to remove the scene. We apologize to everyone whose beliefs have been offended.”

Directed by Malineni, Jaat showcases a stellar line-up with Sunny Deol, Saiyami Kher, Regina Cassandra, and Randeep Hooda in key roles. The story unfolds in a rugged rural setting, tackling complex issues like social unrest, personal identity, and the fight for justice.

Hooda takes on a compelling role, portraying a man entangled in political strife and inner conflict, while the rest of the cast enhances the film with strong, emotionally grounded performances.
