Dhanush Reveals A New Poster for Ilaiyaraaja Biopic On His Birthday

The entertainment industry is not only busy celebrating the success of films but also on other occasions.

It all happened on June 2 when the industry celebrated the birthdays of two renowned personalities. One of them was filmmaker Mani Ratnam and other one was music maestro Ilaiyaraaja.

While Mani Ratnam turned 68, Ilaiyaraaja celebrated his 81th birthday on June 2, 2024. The special occasion marked loads of heartfelt wishes from both Dhanush and Kamal Haasan.

The celebration also came up with Dhanush sharing a new poster from his upcoming film which will be a biopic on Ilaiyaraaja. The newly released poster features Dhanush as a composer who can be seen standing on a stage in front of a huge audience.

The actor can be further seen with his one hand on harmonium who looks busy appreciating Ilaiyaraaja’s presence in the music world. This is what he captioned the poster, “Happy Birthday, maestro,” with Dhanush adding, “Happy birthday to the one and only @ilaiyaraaja sir.”

The celebrations also witnessed Kamal Hassan extending his heartfelt wishes to both Mani Rantam and Ilaiyaraaja.

While narrating some of his experiences working with them, he simply wrote on X, “Double happiness is a strange phrase in Tamil.
Can happiness be measured? But today is like an example for me. This is a happy moment as today is the birthday of the elder brother among the three brothers and the birthday of the younger brother.”

This is what he added further, “My beloved brother Ilayaraja will tell the story in music; Anbuth Thambi Maniratnam who adds a touch of charm to screen writing… I wish you both a happy birthday. May the legacy of our trio continue forever.” The post was accompanied by the hashtags #HappyBirthdayIlaiyaraaja and #HappyBirthdayManiRatnam.

As Dhanush will be seen in the biopic on Ilaiyaraaja, the actor will portray the role of the music maestro. The above was finalized recently in Chennai. The above announcement happened in the presence of director Vetri Maaran and Kamal Haasan.

A strong anticipation among fans can be seen right after the announcement was made. The biopic will be directed by Arun Matheswaran and the music will be composed by none other than Ilaiyaraaja.

Further, the upcoming biopic will be a teamwork of Mercuri Movies, PK Prime Production, and Connekkt Media.
