Despite the strong performance of both films, Despicable Me 4 lags behind. It would be exceptional for any film to outdo the Pixar sequel’s numbers, though Deadpool & Wolverine might present a significant challenge to its dominance.

The ‘Despicable Me’ Franchise Has Breaks Record

The Despicable Me franchise has officially surpassed $5 billion globally, making it the first animated franchise to achieve this milestone.

Despicable Me 4 has been instrumental in reaching this total, but previous films in the series also made significant contributions. Despicable Me 2 and Minions: The Rise of Gru each came close to $1 billion.

While both Despicable Me 3 and the original Minions exceeded $1 billion. These successes have collectively driven the franchise’s total to over $5 billion.
