Emma Watson recently posted a touching tribute on Instagram, stating, “When I was younger, I didn’t truly understand Maggie’s legendary status, the incredible woman I was fortunate to share the screen with.

It’s only in adulthood that I’ve come to appreciate the privilege of working alongside someone who exemplified greatness.

She was authentic, sincere, funny, and held herself in high regard. Maggie, you were among many male professors, yet you always held your own. Thank you for your kindness. I will miss you dearly.”

Gary Oldman, known for his role as Sirius Black, told Entertainment Weekly that Maggie was truly among the greats, alongside legendary actors like Gielgud and Oliver. He emphasized that those who witnessed her talent on stage would never forget her.

Bonnie Wright shared her thoughts on Instagram, stating, “Our beloved head of Gryffindor house. The Harry Potter community will greatly miss you. One of my fondest memories with Maggie was when we practiced dancing for the Yule Ball.

She embodied the ideal mix of sass and nurturing that McGonagall represented, always keeping Gryffindors on their toes. My heartfelt condolences to her family during this time.”

Afshan Azad, who portrayed Padma Patil, also posted on Instagram, writing, “A true legend. An icon. It was an absolute privilege to share the same space as you, let alone perform alongside you. There will never be another like you. My thoughts and love go out to her friends and family, as well as the entire Potter community.”

This is what Chris Rankin remarked, “There aren’t many individuals who can match the brilliant talent, sharp wit, humor, kindness, and intimidating presence of Maggie Smith.

I feel incredibly lucky to have worked alongside her. They truly don’t make them like that anymore.” Devon Murray added, “I’m deeply saddened by the news of Maggie Smith’s passing.

She was the most intimidating person I had ever met, yet once you got to know her, she revealed herself to be the kindest, most compassionate, and loving person I’ve ever encountered.”
