The second strain of Covid-19 is back and causing disruptions all over. Nobody expected that it would come back in such a manner.

Currently, Maharashtra is the only state worst affected with the second wave of coronavirus. For the last several days, the condition of the entire Maharashtra state has been deteriorating with more number of fresh cases piling up.

Owing to the number of new cases and the causalities happening, the state government of Maharashtra has decided to cancel shooting at least for weekends. And now, it looks like the cancelling of weekend shoots will surely hit producers in a hefty manner.

This is what JD Majethia who represent the Indian Film And Television Producers Council said, “TV units shoot at least two episodes in three days. With the weekend shooting coming to a halt and we not knowing when it is going to be lifted, TV industry is going to lose at least Rs 5 crore every weekend. If we don’t shoot on the weekends the number of episode deliverables will also come down. But if we consider OTT and film shoot, the industry is losing about Rs 10 crore every weekend and here it also depends on the scale of the film and the artists involved in it.”

Due to the Maharashtra government considering taking more such measures in the coming time, it is very much possible that more and more shooting to be held to South India. It simply means that shooting will not be cancelled but will be shifted to another location.

For now, it’s applicable for big banner films. Take a look at what the sorce revealed, “Some big films are planning to shift and complete shooting of their films to the south especially those scenes which requires more unit members as Maharashtra government has put a hold on crowding on sets.”

It looks like the current coronavirus attack will hit the pocket of producers as the shootings are being cancelled. It’s mainly because they will have no other option and have to bear all costs including the costs of sets and other indirect expenses.

Bollywood has so far witnessed the entry of Covid-19 in many as eight stars like Vicky Kaushal, Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Bhumi Pednekar who are all tested positive for the same.

There are some TV shows like Anupama, Dance Deewane, Wagle Ki Duniya, Indian Idol and Wagle Ki Duniya that are reported to have been affected with fresh cases on the sets.
