Ayesha Kanga, renowned for her work in the fashion industry and also an alumna of the National Institute of Design (NID), recently recounted her experience of opening the grand finale show for designer Rahul Mishra at Lakme Fashion Week 2024.
The prestigious event, held at the Jio World Convention Centre, marked the culmination of a five-day extravaganza spotlighting the latest fashion trends.

Recognized for his great designs craftsmanship, Rahul Mishra introduced his Fall-Winter 2024 collection titled “Sculpt” under his global luxury ready-to-wear label AFEW.
Drawing inspiration from the wonders of nature, Mishra’s collection attracted majestic mountains, delicate snowflakes, undulating sand dunes, and different features of the human face.
The show’s opening featured Ayesha Kanga draped in a stunning ensemble, symbolizing life emerging from a solid block of stone. Adorned with glistening white sequins and natural motifs in neutral shades, the outfit showed elegance.
The show’s set design drew inspiration from a sculptor’s studio, featuring different artworks crafted by local student artists.
The muslin fabric will be repurposed to create test garments at the Rahul Mishra ateliers, showcasing the designer’s dedication to sustainability.
This is what she shared, “Opening Rahul Mishra’s show at Lakme Fashion Week was an amazing experience. We both attended the same college, NID, and I can see our shared educational background reflected in his work. I eagerly embrace any opportunity to wear his designs!”
