You might have heard about the recent incident that relates to the Amazon Rain forest fires. Well, everyone expects the fire must be stopped if we want to save the earth.

In the meanwhile Hollywood superstar Leonardo Dicaprio has come forward and pledged $5 million for Amazon rain-forest fires.

In a report that says that Amazon rain-forests contribute as much as 20% oxygen to the entire earth’s ecosystem. They are the largest forest cover on earth. The pace with which the fire has broken might cause lots of troubles in the future. So, it’s necessary that this fire should be stopped as early as possible.

Leonardo Dicaprio who recently donated $5 million is one of a few Hollywood personalities who occasionally come forward and help in such cases. Through his act, he wants to give a message to protect our environment due to the climate change.

In the past, he had started his own organization Earth Alliance with the help of a number of eminent philanthropists and friends Brian Sheth and Laurene Powell Jobs.

Now, the fund raised by Dicaprio’s foundation company is going to provide financial aid to both the indigenous communities and other partners as they are keen to protect the huge cover of forests.

This is what Dicaprio’s organization has issued a statement on the recent issue “Currently, we can all see that Amazon rain-forest is on fire, with over 9,000 wildfires scorching delicate irreplaceable landscapes across Brazil this week, year to date, more than 72,000 fires have been reported by Brazil’s National Institute for Space Research (INPE). This is a significant increase from the 40,000 fires in Brazil at this point last year. The destruction of the Amazon rain-forest is rapidly releasing carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, destroying an ecosystem that absorbs millions of tons of carbon emissions every year and is one of the planet’s best defenses against the climate crisis.”

Regarding the work that the organization Earth Alliance has initiated, they chose to add something more. This is what they have to say, “We formed Earth Alliance as an immediate relief fund to save Amazon forests. We decided to initially contribute with an amount of $5 million to entirely focus on the “lungs of the planet”. The above fund that has been raised will directly help all the local partners along with all those indigenous communities protecting the Amazon. It will also help protecting the diversity of wildlife that lives there along with the overall health of the planet.”
