As per an interaction with Bollywood Hungama, Akshay Kumar spoke about the importance of discipline, stating that it has always been an essential part of his routine.
When asked about the lack of discipline among certain film stars, especially with their late nights and tardiness on set, he shared his perspective.
Akshay Kumar humorously explained that he doesn’t want to be a ‘star’ who is only seen at night, likening himself instead to the sun, which rises early.
He also cited Sania Mirza as a great example of success achieved through discipline and dedication. Akshay added that while the media often questions him about his early bedtime

Akshay Kumar Talks About Discipline In the Film Industry, Says, “I Don’t Want to Be a Star, Stars Only Appear at Night”
At the Republic Plenary Summit, when the host brought up the issue of discipline among some film stars who wake up late and arrive late on set, Akshay Kumar replied, “Firstly, I don’t want to be a star because stars come out at night. I want to be the sun, not a star.”
Akshay Kumar then brought up Sania Mirza as an example, stressing that discipline is key to achieving success. He said, “Regarding the question you asked about discipline, Sania ji is sitting here. She’s a renowned sportswoman who has brought pride to our country. How vital is discipline?
Ask her if she could have reached where she is without it. It’s impossible! She had to maintain discipline, wake up early, and play tennis. Was it easy? Discipline is absolutely necessary.”
Akshay Kumar reminisced about how, during childhood, everyone would rise early for school. He then wondered why this habit seems to fade as people age.
He further expressed his irritation at being asked about his early bedtime, saying, “The most frustrating part is when the media asks, ‘Sir, why do you sleep so early?’
What do you expect me to do? How is that a valid question? Shouldn’t they be asking why others stay up so late? That’s what they should be questioning. It’s time for a shift in perspective,” Akshay remarked.
Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal will next star in Priyadarshan’s Bhooth Bangla, alongside Wamiqa Gabbi, Asrani, Rajpal Yadav, and Tabu. In addition to the above, Akshay has a number of other projects lined up, including Welcome To The Jungle, Housefull 5, Jolly LLB 3, and Shankara.
