Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor couldn’t create magic in their recently released film Ok Jaanu at the box office.
The film could only able to sustain average business at the end of day 5 but tanked its Monday collections.
In the past, we all witnessed romantic sagas full of melody, doing well at the box office. But this time the movie Ok Jaanu, produced in the same pattern couldn’t turn up well in the eyes of the audience.
Ok Jaanu starring Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shradhha Kapoor, in spite of having a great on screen chemistry, only managed to do average business.
The film didn’t show the numbers on the weekends as well as on Monday (January, 16).
Initially, it was speculated that the shortfall in numbers was due to the cricket match, but this was not the case.
The dip was huge on Monday as well. If we talk about the box office numbers, then the Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer managed to collect Rs 15.75 crores in the first 4 days of screening.
But the figures couldn’t stick in place for long and witnessed a steep plunge on Sunday (January, 15).
Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor love story has mixed views
The film showed disappointing results right at the time of screening (for the first time).
As you can see after collecting a modest Rs. 4.90 crores and Rs. 1.95 Crores on Saturday and Sunday respectively, it plunged a further disappointing Rs. 1.95 Crore mark on Monday.
This was also confirmed by trade analyst Taran Aadarsh as he himself quoted- ‘Ok Jaanu’ is not doing great and is weak.
He also said the film slumps on Monday, doing a business of a modest Rs. 4.08 Crores (Friday), Rs. 4.90 Crores (Saturday), Rs. 4.82 Crores (Sunday), Rs. 4.82 Crores (Monday). Tuesday also witnessed slow to no growth as well.
The film received mixed reviews from the critics. Most of them didn’t like the story plot while some looked disappointed with the music.
The romantic movie Ok Jaanu is directed by Shaad Ali and the music given by none other than A.R Rehman.
The film, in fact, was released in as many as 1400 screens all over the country. Ok Jaanu witnessed the presence of both Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor for the second time after their first successful venture in Aashiqui 2.
But at the moment, both of them need a hit at the box office as their earlier projects- Fitoor and Rock On 2 almost flop.
They have less time to show up as ShahRukh Khan’s Raees is all set to gear up and take the place.
Ok Jaanu box office collection- Is the film going to get the flop tag?
Once a film release, it’s all about the numbers, it earns at the box office. Even before the film Ok Jaanu starring Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor was launched, it created waves across the entire biz world.
It gathered much hype due to some big names attached. For example, the movie happens to be the remake of Mani Ratnam’s blockbuster- OK Kanmani. But Ok Jaanu box office collection failed to outperform like its predecessor.
The impending failure of Ok Jaanu is considered even worse as it was produced under Dharma productions.
The Star cast of both Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shradhha Kapoor failed to impress in their earlier projects as well.
Both the films (Rock On 2 and Fitoor) bombed at the ticket counters itself.
So, let’s see how the film performs in the time to come. But for now, it’s not showing positive vibes coming out from the box office.
