Student of the Year 3: Shanaya Kapoor Gears Up for A Double Role As Shooting Begins April 20

Marking her big moment, Shanaya Kapoor, the daughter of Sanjay and Maheep Kapoor will soon play the role in her upcoming film titled Student of the Year 3. It’s going to be the latest addition to Karan Johar’s series. As expected, the filming is set to commence on April 20, 2025.

This upcoming edition will take the form of a six-part web series helmed by first-time director Reema Maya, and is already making waves due to Shanaya’s speculated dual role.

Known for launching the careers of stars Tara Sutaria, Ananya Panday, Sidharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan, and Alia Bhatt, the Student of the Year franchise is now shifting to the digital space with SOTY 3

Set to stream on JioHotstar, the project will be completed in a 30-day shoot, in line with the energetic storytelling style of director Reema Maya, who gained acclaim for her 2023 short film Nocturnal Burger.

Shanaya Kapoor to Play Double Role In SOTY 3

A source disclosed that SOTY 3 has been in currently in the works for the past six years. After receiving Karan Johar’s approval, filming is set to begin on April 20.

The shoot will follow a compressed 30-day schedule to complete all six episodes. Another insider revealed, “This will be Shanaya’s fourth project and her first venture into streaming. She will also make history in the SOTY series by taking on a double role for the first time.”

Well, it looks like Shanaya’s 2025–2026 line-up is brimming with promising projects. Her debut film, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, a romantic drama directed by Santosh Singh, has completed filming and is preparing for a theatrical debut.

The actress will also star alongside Adarsh Gourav in the survival thriller Tu Yaa Main, set to release on Valentine’s Day 2026, as well as a forthcoming project with Abhay Verma, which remains untitled.
