Snow White North America Box Office: Weekend Performance Worse Than Already Weak Earnings

Snow White’s issues persist. Early reports show that the film failed to meet the anticipated figures for its opening weekend.

The final weekend numbers are now available, and they’re slightly lower than the initial estimates. Keep reading for the full breakdown.

The film has had a rough and disappointing beginning, with negative word-of-mouth amplifying its struggles. With a reported production budget of $250 million, excluding marketing expenses, the live-action remake has not lived up to expectations.

On the other hand, Captain America: Brave New World appears to have gained from the weak weekend performance, as it was expected to earn $100 million but couldn’t even surpass $90 million.

Luiz Fernando’s report indicates that the Disney live-action remake Snow White grossed $42.2 million during its three-day weekend debut.

This was a stronger opening than Mufasa: The Lion King, which earned $35.4 million initially but saw a gradual rise. Rachel Zegler’s Snow White also surpassed three other films, including Jungle Cruise, Maleficent 2, and Wonka.

Snow White’s international performance also fell short of initial expectations. The film brought in $43.9 million from 53 markets during its opening weekend.

When added to the $42.2 million earned in the US, the global total for its debut weekend reaches $86.1 million.

Originally, Snow White’s international opening was reported at $44.3 million, with the domestic gross at $43 million.

The revised figures show a noticeable drop, as they were already below the anticipated range of $45 million to $50 million in the US and over $100 million globally.

With no major releases in the coming weeks, the Disney film will have an opportunity to earn without much competition. However, the release of A Minecraft Movie in early April is expected to shift the box office dynamics.

Released on March 21, Snow White, featuring Gal Gadot and Rachel Zegler, is now screening.
