Sinners Maintains Box Office Heat Into 6th Weekend & Holiday Frame
With $8.8 million collected in its sixth weekend, Michael B. Jordan’s film gave a tough fight for the #4 box office spot but was edged out by Thunderbolts by less than $1 million.*
With $2.48 million added on Memorial Day, the original horror release climbed to the #5 spot, lifting its US box office total to $259.03 million.
Sinners managed to mull in $4.4 million internationally this weekend, showing a 22.2% rise from the previous weekend despite two big new films hitting theaters.
The overseas total has hit $80 million, and along with $259.03 million from the domestic market, the worldwide gross now sits at $339.03 million [according to Box Office Mojo]. The $350 million milestone is within reach.
Secures a spot among the top 15 highest-grossing horror films in history
Sinners has surpassed the combined global earnings of The Conjuring 1 and 2, landing at 15th place among the highest-grossing horror films ever, according to movie database figures.
The original Conjuring earned $320.41 million worldwide after its 2013 release.
The Conjuring 2, released in 2016, amassed $322.8 million globally. Sinners, directed by Ryan Coogler, has overtaken both Conjuring movies to rank 15th on the highest-grossing horror films list and aims to reach 14th.
The Film Poised to Surpass A Quiet Place
Starring Emily Blunt and John Krasinski, the 2018 movie A Quiet Place was praised by critics and audiences alike, resulting in two additional films expanding the story.
The worldwide box office total of $340.9 million makes it the 14th highest-grossing horror movie to date. Sinners is on the verge of surpassing this, with Michael B. Jordan’s film falling less than $2 million short.
