Preity Zinta Calls for Justice In Kolkata Rape Case: “Women’s Safety Must Be a Priority”

Preity Zinta expressed her anger and sorrow over the brutal rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor in Kolkata, calling for swift justice. As protests spread across the nation, she urged the government to make women’s safety a top priority.

This is what she shared, “We are the fifth-largest economy in the world. This election both male and female voter turnout was about 66% with women voters predicted to overtake the male voters in the next election. It’s time WOMEN’S SAFETY is PRIORITIZED by the government. It’s heartbreaking & disgusting to see a rapist’s face hidden/covered when arrested, while victims of rape & violent sexual crime have their names and faces leaked in the media. Justice is never swift, punishment is never severe & people are never held accountable.”

Preity Zinta expressed her deep frustration, saying, “So many women endure terrible violations, and it often goes unnoticed unless it hits close to home.

It’s time for ALL WOMEN to come together and turn WOMEN’S SAFETY into a political issue. Those responsible for covering up or mishandling sexual violence cases shouldn’t just face transfers—they should be removed from their positions.

As a woman, I want to apologize to Nirbhaya, Moumita, and every girl who has been wronged. I’M SORRY I didn’t fight hard enough before. BUT THAT ENDS NOW!”

It all happened on August 15, 2024 when a 31-year-old trainee doctor was tragically raped and killed at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.

The attack, which happened while she was on duty, has sparked nationwide protests. Many celebrities have since turned to social media to voice their grief and outrage over the incident.
