Preity Zinta sets the record straight

During an AMA session on X (formerly Twitter), Preity Zinta addressed whether she has any plans to associate with a political party in the near future.

When asked by a social media user if she had plans to join the BJP, Preity Zinta didn’t hold back. She replied, “That’s the problem with people on social media—everyone’s become so judgmental these days.”

She clarified further, saying, “As I’ve mentioned before, visiting temples or the Maha Kumbh and taking pride in my roots and identity doesn’t mean I’m entering politics or joining the BJP. Living abroad has only deepened my appreciation for India and everything that makes it home.”

In response to Preity’s statement, the social media user clarified that his question wasn’t meant to be judgmental. He explained that it was simply a genuine question sparked by her recent posts and public appearances, coming from the perspective of an observant follower..

At that point, Preity opened up about how the constant politicization of her personal choices was stealing away her simple joys.

She responded, “Apologies if I came across as abrupt! I genuinely have PTSD from being asked this question so often. Thank you for clearing things up (folded hands emoji). Ever since becoming a mom and living abroad, it’s been important for me to make sure my kids stay connected to their Indian heritage. Since my husband is agnostic, we’ve chosen to raise our children as Hindus. Sadly, I face ongoing criticism for it, and what should be a simple joy often gets politicized. It’s exhausting to feel like I must constantly defend my pride in teaching my kids about their roots and religion. Anyway, time to move on… Sending lots of love and best wishes your way.”
