Since its premiere on 25 July, Mahavatar Narsimha has been rewriting its box office history. The mythological animated film is based on the story of Lord Narsimha.

It has raked in ₹150 crore worldwide within 15 days, according to official reports.

The film has even broken the records of Hanuman and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, now holding the crown as India’s highest-grossing animated movie.

 

Mahavatar Narsimha’s box office collections

The animated blockbuster titled Mahavatar Narsimha, praised for its storytelling and visuals, continues to roar after a stellar two-week run.

Friday’s Hindi collections stood at ₹4.7 crore, raising the film’s Hindi net earnings to ₹84.44 crore. A partial holiday during the weekend helped sustain its impressive revenue flow.

It all happened on August 8 when Hombale Films announced that Mahavatar Narsimha has achieved a worldwide gross of over ₹150 crore.

The makers shared a celebratory note saying, “Unleashing a divine blaze. #MahavatarNarsimha races past 150 CRORES+ worldwide gross till Aug 8th. The film has managed to impress the audience by continuing its emphatic win on most screens across the country.”

The producers of Mahavatar Narsimha include presenters Hombale Films and Kleem Productions are looking forward for their film to grab ₹150 crore at the domestic box office and up to ₹200 crore in terms of the worldwide box office collection.

Under the direction of Ashwin Kumar, Mahavatar Narsimha came to life through the efforts of producers Chaitanya Desai of Kleem Productions, Kushal Desai, and Shilpaa Dhawan.

Released nationwide in 3D and 2D across Hindi and South Indian languages, it soared past Hanuman (2005), Incredibles 2 (2018), and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023), to take the crown as India’s top-grossing animated title.

Over the next 12 years, both the production houses will deliver a cinematic universe of animated tales right from Indian mythology. The schedule includes Mahavatar Gokulananda (2033), Mahavatar Dhawkadhesh (2031), Mahavatar Raghunandan (2029), Mahavatar Parshuram (2027), and Lord Vishnu: Mahavatar Narsimha (2025) with the mythic finale split into Mahavatar Kalki Part 2 (2037), Mahavatar Kalki Part 1 (2035).
