In the ongoing legal battle between Kangana Ranaut and Javed Akhtar, the metropolitan magistrate has rejected Kangana’s application who’s seeking permanent exemption from the case.
Kangana Ranaut is known as Bollywood Queen. But now, it seems that the actress is also the queen of controversies.
Kangana came in limelight immediately after the demise of Sushant Singh Rajput where she criticized many personalities for one reason or the other.
The actress never forgets giving her views on any controversial issue. Out of the several legal cases Kangana has been going through, one of them is the defamation case filed by Javed Akhtar.
There is an update in the above case according to which the Metropolitan magistrate RR Khan has rejected her plea seeking permanent exemption from the defamation suite filed by Akhtar.
While rejecting Kangana’s application, the metropolitan magistrate said, “Per contra, the accused is dictating her own terms for the trial of this case in the manner she likes. Admittedly, the accused cannot claim permanent exemption as of right. The accused has to follow the established procedure of law and terms and conditions of her bail bonds.” he said.
The magistrate further added, “Till date, the accused (Kangana Ranaut) has not appeared with an intent to cooperate with the court for the trial of allegations levelled against her.”
The report says that Kangna Ranaut had earlier sought to get permanent exemption from appearing in this case which was originally filed by Javed Akhtar.
From Kangana’s side, it was mentioned that she’s one of the top Bollywood actresses and has to fulfill various professional commitments by visiting different parts of the country as well as some international destinations.
But the court simply rejected her arguments and stated, “No doubt, being a celebrity, the accused is having her professional assignments, but she cannot forget that she is an accused in this case.”
This is what the court stated in its order, “For the fair progress of the trial, her cooperation is essential in the matter. It is pertinent to mention here that the accused has built up her mind that her presence in this case is not necessary and her advocate will look after the legal formalities.”
It was on November 2020 when the lyricist Javed Akhtar filed a defamation suite against Kangana. In her petition, he claimed that the actress made defamatory statements against him in a television interview.
He claimed that Kangana made some false statements at an interview given to a TV channel right after the demise of late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. While doing so, it damaged the reputation of Akhtar.
In response to his defamation suite, the actress chose to file a legal complaint against him in the same court. This time, Kangana alleged that Javed was involved in for making alleged criminal intimidation and extortion.
