Snoop Dogg’s biopic has officially been greenlit, with the rap legend reacting emotionally to the casting of Jonathan Daviss.
Known for Outer Banks, Daviss will headline the film, which tells the story of Snoop’s journey from Calvin Broadus Jr. to a hip-hop trailblazer.

With Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow, Coming 2 America) in the director’s seat, the biopic is being produced by Snoop Dogg, Brian Grazer, and Sara Ramaker. Brewer is also updating the script originally crafted by Joe Robert Cole.
Joining a flourishing trend of music-focused films in Hollywood, the Snoop Dogg biopic stands among titles like A Complete Unknown. With Snoop’s hands-on participation and Jonathan Daviss’s passionate performance, anticipation is soaring.
The film serves as the launchpad for Death Row Pictures’ collaboration with NBCUniversal Entertainment & Studios, guided by Ryan Jones at Universal.
