George Clooney Says Goodbye to Romantic Roles
According to Variety, George Clooney revealed his decision to stop acting in “romantic films” during his appearance on 60 Minutes to promote his lead role in the Broadway production of Good Night, and Good Luck.
During the interview, correspondent Jon Wertheim brought up George’s “Sexiest Man of the Year phase” from the early 2000s. George admitted that it “was a big time” in his life but emphasized that his career has taken a different direction since then.
“Listen, I’m 63 now. Competing with 25-year-old leading men isn’t my thing anymore,” he said, adding, “I’ve moved on from romantic films.”
Throughout his career, George Clooney has starred in numerous romantic films, including 1996’s One Fine Day alongside Michelle Pfeiffer, 2003’s Intolerable Cruelty with Catherine Zeta-Jones, 2009’s Up in the Air with Vera Farmiga, and his most recent, Ticket to Paradise, featuring ’90s rom-com icon Julia Roberts

Murrow and his efforts to challenge Senator Joseph McCarthy’s witch hunts during the 1950s. Clooney plays Murrow in the production, which began previews on March 12 and will officially debut on upcoming April 3.
In New York last month, George confessed to reporters that he’s “nervous” about making his Broadway debut. He expressed, “What makes this special is the opportunity to perform a play that revolves around something so important to us… the value of truth.”
