The British Academy commented, “From iconic characters cherished by families globally to the developmental principles that support quality children’s programming, this genre has inspired boundless joy and creativity in young audiences.”
The new categories will feature the Children’s Scripted Award, which honors both live-action and animated scripted dramas and comedies.
There will also be a Children’s Non-Scripted Award that highlights factual programming, encompassing documentaries, news, and factual entertainment.
Andrew Miller, chair of the Young BAFTA Advisory Group and BAFTA trustee, remarked, “The children’s media sector is a leader in diverse and educational storytelling, serving as a vital talent pipeline.
