In Avowed, players basically collect various items, some of which may lead to rewards over time. Starmetal Fragments appear as quest items, yet no blacksmith seems able to craft them into a formidable weapon.
That changes once you arrive in the Galawain’s Tusks region. Here, you’ll encounter a Starmetal Smithy skilled enough to forge your collected fragments into something valuable.

Starmetal Smithy Location in Avowed
In Avowed, players can locate the Starmetal Smithy within Solace Keep, a large fortress in the Galawain’s Tusks region. Found east of Twinedwood, this area becomes available as the main story unfolds, with several NPCs inside offering side quests.
Currently, the gates of Solace Keep remain locked, and there appears to be no way to gain entry, even attempts to persuade Warden Kosmin prove unsuccessful.
How to Gain Entry to Solace Keep in Galawain’s Tusks
In Avowed, it’s possible to enter Solace Keep in Galawain’s Tusks ahead of the main quest progression. To achieve this, first, fast travel to the Solace Keep party camp and recruit Marius as a companion.
After adding Marius to your party, go to the gates of Solace Keep and speak with Warden Kosmin. A conversation will unfold between them, and with Marius’ influence, Kosmin will allow entry. Once the drawbridge is lowered, proceed inside and use the lever to access the fort.
Proceed through the keep’s corridors and make your way downstairs to meet Forgemaster Dela, the only Starmetal Smithy in Avowed.
Forgemaster Dela: Should You Choose a Sword or an Arquebus?
When players present Starmetal Fragments, Forgemaster Dela will be surprised by the request. If you’ve acquired at least two fragments during the Forged of Star-Stuff quest, he’ll offer a choice between two weapons.
With all four Starmetal Fragments, you can unlock the upgraded versions of the weapons: Ondra’s Offense and Heavenstrike.
