It was in October this year when Amitabh Bachchan took a decision to terminate his contract with Kamala Pasand pan masala.
The reason he quoted while terminating the contract with the brand was that he was not aware of the fact that it falls under surrogate advertising.
The case was highlighted when the Bollywood actor requested to terminate his contract with the pan masala brand by the National Anti-tobacco organization.
Now, the problem is that despite terminating his contract with the pan masala brand, the ad continues to feature on television. This is what a source close to Bollywood Hungama stated, “A Legal notice has been sent to Kamala Pasand to stop Broadcasting the TV commercials with Mr. Bachchan immediately.
The notice was sent after it was observed that despite termination of the Endorsement agreement Kamala Pasand has ignored the same and continues to air the TV commercials featuring Bachchan.”
It all happened sometime back when Amitabh Bachchan realized that it won’t be fair continuing the ad with them, he contacted them to withdraw from the advertising campaign.
A lot of questions are being raised that why Amitabh Bachchan chose to step out from the ad campaign during the last moments. It was mainly because the experts feel that it falls under surrogate advertising.
The entire processing was done when Bachchan chose to write a letter Shekhar Salkar, President National Organization For Tobacco Eradication.
In the letter, it clearly states that using pan masala affects the overall health of the citizens and also that Big B has withdrawn from the campaign.
