Akshay Kumar is a widely known film actor, television personality, producer, stuntman and marital artist. Akshay was born on September 9, 1967 in Amritsar, Punjab.
You might be aware that his real name is Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia. But, after he moved into films, he is precisely known by Akshay Kumar. There are some other names that has been given to him like Akki, Mac, Khiladi, etc.
Early Life & Bollywood Debut
Akshay Kumar is the son of Hari Om Bhatia (former Army Officer) and Aruna Bhatia. He’s also accompanied by his younger sister Alka Bhatia.
The entire family used to live near old Delhi (Chandani Chowk) but then later moved to Mumbai.
The initial schooling of Akshay was done from Don Bosco school, Matunga. After that, he opted for higher education in Mumbai from Guru Nanak Khalsa College.
This was the time when he developed interest to learn martial arts and straightaway went to Bangkok.
At this time, he started working at a Thai restaurant. He also had keen interest in making Thai food and even learned that before becoming a martial arts champion.
Later, he also worked as a chef at one of the restaurants in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

After he returned back home, he started giving training of martial arts. This was the time when one of his students advised him to try into the world of modelling. He even started earning Rs 5,000 from his modelling assignments.
He was overjoyed to learn that this income was far greater than his one month salary working as a Chef.
This was when Akki decided to fulfill his dream of becoming an actor. After he completed his modelling assignments, he got his first offer from Bollywood.

Well, Akshay Kumar made his first debut into the world of Bollywood by doing a small (15 second) role in a movie titled Aaj (1987).
After this, he appeared in another Indian Bollywood flick titled Saugandh (1991) where he acted opposite Shanti Priya and Raakhee.
After this, he again featured in another movie Dancer (1991) that couldn’t collect great reviews from the audience.
It was only in 1992 when he was casted in a film Khiladi (1992) that he got his actual break in his career.
After working in so many films, Akshay has become a successful movie producer. The first movie he produced was “Singh is King”- A romantic comedy movie that was released in the year 2008.
