Sweta Keswani Criticizes Priyanka Chopra for Not Supporting South Asians In Hollywood

While recognizing Hollywood actress Priyanka Chopra’s influence as a trailblazer, actor Sweta Keswani suggested that her professional milestones have mainly supported her own advancement

You might have seen several Bollywood actors transiting to Hollywood to fulfill their own dreams. Out of several reasons, major ones include the culture and the language.

But if you look in broad daylight, actors like Priyanka Chopra and Mindy Kaling have not only shifted to Hollywood but also managed to be successful in the industry.

But Sweta Keswani have some different reasons to speak out. She believes that one stands out for having done more to open doors for South Asian actors.

As per Keswani, Kaling has done quite a decent job to empower other South Asian artists, unlike Chopra, who she believes mainly advances her own career.

Keswani is a well known actress who appeared in several blockbuster shows like Law and Order, and Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii recently got a chance to converse with India Today.

In her interview, she stresed that Priyanka Chopra is more like a trailblazer, as she has always helped herself to move ahead in her career.

This is what she stated, “I never denied the kind of success that Priyanka got is tremendous. But you can’t comapre her with Mindy Kaling. The fact that Priyanka is just helping herself unlike helping other South Asians is not hidden.

The contribution of Mindy Kaling is quite unmatched as she’s involved in producing, writing, and helping other South Asians which I think looks quite tough for women of colour.”

Sweta Keswani also beleived that there are some Hollywood cliques who are known to control most of the things. But she has liked that because of her responsibility of a mother.

“To me, it’s just like any other place, there are cliques, and people tend to stick with or reach out to those they already know and like.” Sadly, I’m not a part of any South Asian clique at the moment. With my daughter approaching 12, I’ve found it’s getting a little easier to focus on other things again,” said Keswani.
