Black Widow, released in 2021, marked the introduction of Florence Pugh’s character in the MCU and featured a notable cast, including Rachel Weisz, Ray Winstone, William Hurt, Olga Kurylenko, O-T Fagbenle, and David Harbour in their respective lead roles.
Well, the story is set between the events of Captain America: Civil War, with Natasha Romanoff on the run and forced to face her past as a Russian spy before becoming an Avenger.
Scarlett Johansson later filed a lawsuit against Disney due to the film’s simultaneous release in theaters.
Please note that Black Widow earned $179.91 million in the U.S. and $194.58 million overseas, resulting in a total of $379.75 million globally.
Now, Captain America: Brave New World is poised to surpass that figure. The film opened with $88.84 million last month, outpacing Black Widow’s $80.36 million opening.
Harrison Ford and Anthony Mackie’s MCU film has grossed $179.91 million domestically, according to Box Office Mojo.
With an additional $194.58 million from international markets, the film’s total worldwide earnings stand at $374.50 million. It is now just $5 million shy of surpassing Black Widow’s global total and could surpass it within this week.
