Alongside his exceptional performances, he has established himself as a box office powerhouse. Not just a crowd favorite, Aamir Khan has led the way in setting remarkable industry milestones.
It all happened in the year 2008 when Bollywood star Aamir Khan pioneered the 100 crore club in India with Ghajini. The following year, 3 Idiots became the first Hindi film to cross 200 crore net.
He continued breaking records with PK, which launched Bollywood’s 300 crore club. His biggest milestone came with Dangal, which introduced the 2000 crore club (gross) on the global stage. To this day, no Indian film has been able to replicate Dangal’s historic success.
Aamir Khan’s Dangal Stands Unbeaten
In 2017, Dangal premiered in Chinese theaters and became a massive blockbuster. Its extraordinary success in China played a key role in pushing its global box office collection to an incredible 2059.04 crore gross.
In the past few years, blockbuster films like RRR, KGF Chapter 2, Jawan, and Pushpa 2 have all achieved massive box office success, each exceeding Rs 1000 crores.
However, none have managed to surpass Dangal’s lifetime earnings. So far, no Indian film has entered Rs 2000 crore club, with Pushpa 2 coming closest at around Rs 1800 crores but still falling short.
Even in a less successful phase, Aamir Khan continues to lead the global box office. Only time will tell if any other star can surpass Mr. Perfectionist in the years ahead.
