Prabhas, the nephew of esteemed Telugu actor Krishnam Raju, marked his entry into the film industry in 2011 with Eeswar, in which he starred alongside Revathi, who portrayed his stepmother.

Their dynamic included some intense confrontational moments reminiscent of Aruna Irani and Anil Kapoor in Beta. Revathi delivered standout performances, much like Aruna Irani did. Unfortunately, Eeswar was not a commercial success.

Happy Birthday Prabhas: The Cherished Actor Reflects On His Preparation for Baahubali, Stating, “The Film Established A New Standard & Transformed My Life And Career”

Prabhas’s rise to stardom predates Baahubali, starting six years earlier. Before Rajamouli directed Magadheera, he mentioned to Prabhas that he was conceptualizing another significant project, sharing just a brief four-line synopsis about a South Indian king.

This intrigued Prabhas immensely. However, after Magadheera, Rajamouli became occupied with Eega (or Makkhi), while Prabhas was engaged in a film titled Rebel. It took both of them a year and a half to complete their respective projects.

Three years after Rajamouli initially hinted at Baahubali to Prabhas, he presented the complete storyline. Prabhas felt a thrill of excitement, expressing, “What captivated me about the Baahubali script was that it focused not only on the hero and the villain but also on the other characters, who were equally compelling.

This was the first time Rajamouli created a narrative where all characters received substantial significance. I was thrilled by the idea of so many characters harmoniously intertwining in a single story.

Rajamouli initially asked for a year of Prabhas’s commitment, but Prabhas generously provided two. After going through the script, he realized that the project would demand extensive time and resources. He understood that Baahubali was unlike any film previously made.

Prabhas recognized that every second he dedicated to the film would be worthwhile. He spent six months undergoing intense physical training, acquiring skills such as rock climbing for a romantic song, kickboxing, horse riding, and sword fighting.

Furthermore, he needed to alter his physique; he had been quite slender before Baahubali. He committed to a strict workout regimen, exercising twice daily to significantly increase his muscle mass. His resolve to transform from lean to muscular highlighted his dedication to his role in Baahubali.

Thankfully, Prabhas primarily filmed in Hyderabad, although it was still a two-hour journey from his home, limiting his visits with family during production. Separated from his loved ones and dedicated to rigorous training and high-risk stunts, his life changed dramatically after Baahubali.

Prabhas shares his dream role: “As a foodie, I love to eat. However, being in this industry requires me to monitor my diet. I even turned vegan, much to my mother’s dismay. But if an opportunity arises to portray a character who enjoys food, I would seize it eagerly.”
