After Wicked: For Good released, it raked in $150 million in domestic markets during its first weekend, breaking the record for a Broadway musical adaptation, according to the studio. The film’s explosive debut has instantly made it one of the most successful musical films ever.
As reported jointly by the Comscore and Universal Pictures, the Wicked sequel reuniting Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo has delivered the 3rd biggest domestic opening for a musical, ranking just below the 2017 Beauty and the Beast and the 2019 Lion King.
At $111 million, the first Wicked set a strong domestic opening weekend, but the sequel has managed to top it with ease.
Wicked for Good Wins the Race By Surpassing Joker 2 & Snow White In 3 Days
As per the valuable inputs by Box Office Mojo, the film movie raked in $76 million internationally during its opening 3-day run.
It further brought its global box office collection up to $226 million gross.
That already ranks Wicked: For Good as the 18th highest-grossing film of 2025, surpassing the full theatrical earnings of Joker: Folie à Deux ($207 million), One Battle After Another ($202 million), and Snow White ($205 million).
Inspired by the Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel, Wicked For Good mainly offers a fresh take on The Wizard of Oz.
The sequel basically centers on Elphaba and Glinda, now known as the Wicked Witch of the West, as they face off against the manipulative duo of Madame Morrible (Michelle Yeoh) and The Wizard (Jeff Goldblum).
